Meet the Horses
Katie
Katie has been guiding out at Black Butte Stables for 4 years. She grew up in Portland, Oregon, and recently moved to Central Oregon to pursue her passion of horses year-round. She has been riding since she was 5, and riding at Black Butte Stables since she was 7 years old!
McKenzie
McKenzie has been working at Black Butte Stables since June of 2022. She has ridden Western her entire life and did some jumping from ages 3-6. McKenzie starts our colts and young horses for the casual rider, with the goal of helping the horses and humans be on the same page. She says that there is absolutely nothing she loves more than riding deep in the wilderness alone with a horse and her dog Jane. Her favorite part of the job is watching the young horses grow their confidence, their skill sets, and helping them to develop a partnership with humans. In the off-season, you can find McKenzie leading trail rides in the snow!
